Mission and History

The purpose of Project Destiny is to

Glorify God by…

  • Serving the Chinatown Community,
  • Bringing campers to know more of Christ, and
  • Offering life-changing urban ministry experience to its staff

Project Destiny began in 1994 as an idea to tangibly serve our Chinatown neighborhood by providing summer programming for middle schoolers at a time when such services were scarce. After much prayer and planning, camp launched that summer with a team of local teachers who were also members of Boston Chinese Evangelical Church. They lived and served together in the community that whole summer and came away with a heart to love the city and care for those who lived there. Campers, too, came away changed by the gospel and love that those camp counselors had shown them.

Today, 20+ years later, PD continues in that tradition of service to the community, sharing the gospel, and raising up leaders in ministry among its staff. Our staff still lives in community and is dedicated to loving every camper who comes to camp. We have grown to include both a licensed summer day camp with labs in science, technology, arts, and music; as well as a thriving year-long after school ministry (PDAS).
